Housing

Completed Project – Sori’s House

During our May Mission we were able to visit the new house built with Los Toros Mission, Los Toros Foundation and local help. The house has four rooms; two small bedrooms a small kitchen and a large spacious “sala” (living room) that is about 7’ X 11’. It has a very nice cement floor and a nice Tin Roof that keeps out the rain. The cost for construction was under US $1,500.00. Living conditions for Sori and her two children are greatly improved and they all appear to be healthy and happy. Below are some photos:

New Cases

To be investigated

Below are some photos of a family apparently in desperate circumstances. But it is not just a matter of building them a house; the land they are living on may not be theirs to build on and if they do receive help the question of ownership comes into question. We need to help them define their circumstances and determine if they have rights to the land and if they don’t can they get rights of ownership. We want our projects to be collaborative and cooperative with other groups in the community, it is not “us” and “them” – it is people working together for the benefit of the community. We will work carefully to not only serve individuals but the entire community through our collaboration with community leaders and community groups that are set up to serve the entire community of Los Toros!

The village recently numbered all houses, notice the "12"........................................

This part is their kitchen, notice the stove on the left,  large cut out can that uses charcoal..........
